Keeping Pets in Aylmer, St. Thomas and Surrounding Areas Healthy & Happy
Benjamin Franklin said “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” This is true for you and your pet! At Imperial Road Animal Hospital in Aylmer, we believe in regular health examinations with vaccinations and parasite preventatives as appropriate. We follow vaccination protocols that are tailored to your pet’s individual needs. We choose vaccines with extended immunity duration (such as 3-year rabies vaccines) when possible in an effort to minimize your pet’s exposure to unnecessary antigens and minimize the number of antigens received at each visit.
In addition to vaccinations, we offer a wide variety of parasite preventatives to keep fleas, ticks and internal parasites such as heartworms, roundworms, hookworms, whipworms & tapeworms from harming your pet. Many parasites are zoonotic, meaning that they can be transmitted from pet to person, so regular parasite prevention keeps all family members protected against the nasty effects of parasitism.
Our in-house diagnostic laboratory allows us to generate rapid urinalysis, fecal and blood results for sick patients as well as for healthy pets. Wellness testing (performing routine blood screening tests on apparently healthy patients) allows us to detect disease before clinical signs appear and if all results are normal, these tests provide us with normal baseline blood levels if your pet becomes ill in the future. When cost-effective and appropriate, or when additional testing is required, we also use 3 outside laboratories to provide our clients and patients with a wide variety of testing options. At different times of the year we offer promotions on wellness testing – call to inquire!
Here at Imperial Road Animal Hospital, we are passionate about nutrition. We believe that while there is little that we can do to change the genetic make-up of our patients, providing high quality nutritional care can help our patients reach their full potential and live long and healthy lives. Not only do we stock foods appropriate for puppies, kittens, adults and seniors, we also have therapeutic diets specifically formulated to aid in the treatment of kidney, thyroid, liver, joint disease, obesity and for the maintenance of bladder health. Looking to treat your pet? We carry a wide variety of treats too!
