Dr. Amanda Wiltsie Thoonen

Practice Owner, and Veterinarian

Dr. Mandy grew up in rural Elgin County and enjoyed caring for her family’s dogs, cats, horses, and chickens. Upon graduation from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2006, she returned to her hometown to begin her veterinary career.

Mandy joined the team at Imperial Road Animal Hospital in May of 2011, became a part owner of the practice in 2019, and purchased the small animal practice in Aylmer in February of 2022. Although she enjoys most facets of small animal medicine and surgery, she is passionate about dental care as well as nutrition and loves the challenges that dermatology and endocrine diseases pose.

Mandy lives outside Aylmer with her husband Leon, their busy 13 and 15 year old sons, Cairn Terrier Scruffty, 5 goats (Dot, Oreo, Wilson, Hitchcok & Scully) and 2 cats (Coal & Cinnamon). Amanda is a loud and proud hockey Mom and spends most of her spare time at the rink.

Dr. Kathryn (Kat) Hotke

Veterinarian

Dr. Kat Hotke graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) in 2018 and started work in small animal emergency critical care. She has since transitioned to small animal general practice with a special interest in orthopedic surgery. Kat started working at Imperial Road Animal Hospital in September 2018 and joined the team full time in May 2020.
Kat lives outside of London with her husband Ruben with whom she spends time trail running, cycling and playing video games. During her spare time Kat likes to play soccer and cuddle with her dog Cleo.

Dr. Tracy Vink-Taylor

Veterinarian

Dr. Tracy Vink-Taylor graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1998. She has worked with both small and large animals and has now settled into exclusive small animal practice. She believes it is important to stay current in the ever-changing world of veterinary medicine and is a member of the executive team of the London and Area Veterinary Association, which provides continuing education lectures for veterinarians and their managers. Tracy joined the Imperial Road Animal Hospital in January 2024 and enjoys small animal clinical medicine and soft tissue surgery. She is an active volunteer with several organizations, including the Belmont Swans and Girl Guides of Canada. Tracy lives outside Belmont with her husband, two children, two dogs (Otis and Jersey), one cat (Hubert.).

Maria

Office Manager, Animal Laboratory Technician

A lifelong resident of Aylmer, Maria raised, trained and showed Arabian horses for 35 years. She began working for the clinic after graduation with honours from the animal laboratory technician program at Ridgetown College in 1986.

Maria has 2 beautiful daughters. One is currently attending the University of Calgary obtaining a PHD in psychology oncology and one is hoping to enter law enforcement. Her furry family members include a dog, and 2 cats, but she has a special place in her heart for horses.

The thing Maria most enjoys about her job is keeping all animals healthy and happy, including squirrels!

Lindsay

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), Team Lead, HR Manager, and Client Communications Manager

Lindsay joined the team in March 2017. She graduated from Georgian College’s veterinary technician program in Orillia, ON in 2009. Over the years, she has worked at several small animal practices in Ontario and Alberta, in emergency medicine, and in the area of dental referral.

She has a passion for dentistry, anesthesia, emergency medicine, and the Farley Foundation. Lindsay is certified in RECOVER CPR for animals.

Melanie

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)/ RVT Wellness Technician

Melanie grew up on a hobby farm just outside of Alymer and cared for an array of pets, including cats, dogs, ferrets, birds, pigs, horses, and even a skunk.

Mel graduated from Sheridan College in 2010 and came to work at Imperial Road shortly thereafter. Mel enjoys connecting with pets and their people. In 2023, Mel completed extensive training and is one of our Registered Veterinary Technicians who can perform RVT Wellness appointments.

Mel lives locally with her husband Justin, son Griffin, and daughter Paige. When she is not busy enjoying her family, Mel likes to read, work on home projects, and spend time outdoors.

Jade

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)/ RVT Wellness Technician

Jade grew up in Norfolk County on a small hobby farm with dogs, cats, and horses. She graduated from Seneca College in 2010. Jade always knew growing up she wanted to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. She has a special love for cats as she worked for 8 years in a feline specialty practice. In 2023, Jade completed extensive training and is one of our Registered Veterinary Technicians who can perform RVT Wellness appointments.

Jade lives in Aylmer with her partner Jordan and their son Connor. They have a cat named Hershey, and a lab named Athena. In her spare time, she enjoys trail riding, camping with her horse Sugar, and spending time with her family.

Rylee

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)/ RVT Nutritional Technician

Rylee joined our team in January 2021. She is a graduate of the Ridgetown College Veterinary Technician Program and has been a dedicated RVT since 2019. Throughout her career, Rylee has developed a strong passion for nutrition, which has motivated her to pursue further education with a focus on this area.

In 2024, Rylee completed extensive training and is now our RVT Nutritional Technician and providing nutritional consultations to owners. During these appointments, she provides tailored nutritional support to patients in various stages of health, including those undergoing growth and development, those on weight management journeys, and those requiring post-operative wellness nutrition following spay and neuter procedures.

Outside of her professional commitments, Rylee enjoys spending quality time with her family, including her husband (also named Riley) and their son Jaxson. They share their home with two shepherd mix dogs, Phoenix and Hennessy, along with three cats: Maggie, Jedda, and Yoda. In her leisure time, Rylee enjoys reading, learning new crafts such as crocheting, and playing Ringette.

Kait

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

Kait joined the team in March 2023. She graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Ridgetown College in 2014. She has worked in emergency, referral, exotic, and small animals practices since graduation. Kait grew up in a small town not too far from Aylmer.

She has always lived with at least 1 dog and 1 cat (among other small furry, feathery, and scaly pets) since the day she was born.

Kait has a soft spot for senior pets and plans to obtain her certification in Canine Rehabilitation.

She has a Chihuahua named Penny, and a cat named Olaf. In her spare time she enjoys camping, fishing, gardening, reading and playing video games.

Madison

Veterinary Technician

Madison grew up in Windsor before moving just outside of Aylmer. She prefers the close-knit atmosphere of a small town and community over the hustle and bustle of city life.

Madison joined the team in June 2024, shortly after graduating the Veterinary Technician program at Northern College in Haileybury Ontario.

When not at work Madison likes to spend her free time outdoors, when the weather permits it. If stuck inside Madison likes to spend her time getting creative with some arts and crafts, or snuggling her dogs while reading a book or watching television.

Jordyn

Client Service Representative & Veterinary Assistant

Jordyn started her journey into the animal field at a young age, if you count growing up with her own 4-legged zoo. She worked as a Veterinary Assistant at a clinic in London, then worked at a boarding kennel to expand her knowledge and experience before joining the team at IRAH in 2020. Jordyn loves to learn alongside her amazing teammates and loves to help advocate and provide care for our patients. Jordyn aspires to become a Registered Veterinary Technician and to continue to provide the best care for our patients and clients.

Brooke

Client Service Representative & Veterinary Assistant

Brooke joined the team in September of 2021. Brooke is a receptionist with a passion for working with people and animals. She jumped into the veterinary field with no previous knowledge of the industry and has grown in her understanding and skills in the last several years. Brooke has two dogs Knox, an Olde English Bulldogge, and Lyla an American Bulldog.

Liam

Client Service Representative

Liam joined the team in 2024. With over 15 years of experience in customer service, Liam has cultivated expertise in luxury retail and hospitality. Having worked with renowned brands like Hugo Boss, and Holt Renfrew, Liam has honed a deep understanding of what it means to provide exceptional customer experiences.

Liam spent a decade living in Toronto where he continued to develop professionally and personally.

Liam is a professionally trained equestrian who once competed as a show jumper. Growing up surrounded by animals, Liam has developed a love for pets and currently shares his life with a cat (Mia) and a Great Dane (Duncan).

Driven by a desire to make a positive impact, Liam aspires "To leave this world in a better way than we found it."
